  3.       Microsoft's MS-DOS(R) version 6.0 and Autodesk Products

  6.     Microsoft's release 6.0 of the Disk Operating System, (MS-DOS 6.0) 
  7. offers several significant advantages for Autodesk customers.  MS-DOS 6.0 
  8. contains advanced memory management tools and an assortment of useful 
  9. utilities.  All Autodesk products work properly with MS-DOS 6.0.

  12. AutoCAD Release 12
  13.     No modifications are necessary for AutoCAD R12 to run with 
  14. MS-DOS 6.0.

  17. AutoCAD Release 11c2
  18.     Customers using the MemMaker feature of MS-DOS 6.0 should specify 
  19. that they have applications requiring expanded memory.  MemMaker defaults 
  20. by configuring EMM386.EXE for NOEMS, which will cause AutoCAD R11c2 to 
  21. launch with the Phar Lap error 35:  "CPU is in Virtual 8086 mode".

  23. Note:  Earlier versions of AutoCAD Release 11 are linked with Phar Lap 
  24. 386|DOS-Extender 2.2b.  Use NEWDX.EXE to update the Phar Lap extender to 
  25. version 2.6.

  29.     AutoCAD for 286 machines will take full advantage of the additional 
  30. base memory freed by MS-DOS 6.0 by running DOS in the High Memory Area.

  34.     AutoCAD Release 10c10a is linked with Phar Lap 386|DOS-Extender 
  35. 2.2b.  Use NEWDX.EXE to update the Phar Lap extender to version 2.6.

  37.     If the Phar Lap extender has been updated to version 2.6, customers 
  38. should specify that they have applications requiring expanded memory 
  39. when using the MemMaker feature of MS-DOS 6.0.  MemMaker defaults by 
  40. configuring EMM386.EXE for NOEMS, which will cause AutoCAD R10c10a to launch 
  41. with the Phar Lap error 35:  "CPU is in Virtual 8086 mode".

  45.     AutoCAD for 286 machines will take full advantage of the additional 
  46. base memory freed by MS-DOS 6.0.

  49. MemMaker should specify that they have applications requiring expanded memory.

  55.     AutoShade 2.1 with RenderMan is linked with Phar Lap 386|DOS-Extender

  57. expanded memory when using the MemMaker feature of MS-DOS 6.0.  MemMaker 
  58. defaults by configuring EMM386.EXE for NOEMS, which will cause AutoShade to 
  59. launch with the Phar Lap error 35:  "CPU is in Virtual 8086 mode".

  82. James Gleick's CHAOS:  The Software
  83.     As with MS-DOS 5.0, it is necessary to load the metashel program 
  84. using the MS-DOS utility loadfix.  Edit the CHAOS.BAT with an ASCII text 
  85. editor.  Change the line containing "metashel /i" to "loadfix metashel /i".

  105. Autodesk products' temporary and swap files to a non-compressed disk 
  106. partition.
